Wave:Space Completes Post-production Facility for One Union Recording Studios of San Francisco

Project contains one digital/analog editing suite and one fully digital editing suite

Foothill Ranch, October 1, 1996: Wave:Space, one of the world’s leading design and engineering firms of recording, video, motion picture and broadcast facilities, directed by acclaimed acoustic designer Carl Yanchar, recently completed construction of their newest addition to San Francisco’s recording facilities, One Union Recording.

This facility, located in the heart of San Francisco’s ad agency district contains two post-production suites with accompanying announcer booths, and shares space with Hank Smith Music forming this 2200 square foot project.

Studio One, completed last April, incorporates natural light through the rear-wall window with wood diffusion slats. Owner, John McGleenan, commented, "We wanted a facility that sounds great and is a really comfortable and practical environment to work in." The room uses a 56-input TAC Scorpion console and a 16-channel Pro Tools 3.1 workstation.

Studio Two, completed this July, is a fully digital audio suite, featuring a Yamaha 02R digital console, digital patch bays, and a Sony 7030 timecode DAT. McGleenan continues, "Studio Two was designed to place the highest quality audio post capabilities right in the agencies’ backyard. Having a second room will allow us to better accommodate clients across the board, especially in terms of the ability to book short sessions to fine tune works in progress."

One Union and Hank Smith Music joins Focused Audio and the Plant, as recording studios designed by Carl Yanchar of Wave:Space in the Bay area.

In addition to acoustic design, Wave:Space, also offers custom interface design and fabrication. Wave:Space also has developed a complete line of audio monitor systems, ranging from full-range, high powered main monitors to compact powered and un-powered near field monitors.
